Running an 8K race in the morning and 18 on Sunday. I’m feeling pretty pumped right now but that’s a day to day proposition with it right now!

Going to serve with my friend David from small group, really looking forward to that.

And I’m not going out of town anywhere. I’m happy about that. I’m going to try and get a little extra sleep perhaps.

I’m also going to really enjoy the fall weather that is flowing in as I speak!

Going to read as much of Deuteronomy as I can this weekend as well. It’s such an important book and so beautiful and full of awesomeness from God. Jesus himself in His temptation in the wilderness quoted from Deuteronomy three times. It’s a history lesson, a warning, a set of important practical instructions, a love letter, all wrapped up in one. A wonderful blessing…

I don’t know everything. I actually don’t know much of anything, really. But as you step through life, you do end up knowing more things. Daily, I continue to learn new things about myself and the world around me. So I thought today I would share just a few of those recent things that I have learned.

1. Orange soda is the greatest thing you can buy in a bottle. Yes, better than even that, whatever that happens to be.

2. Turns out those blue dot bumper stickers weren’t what I thought they were, and actually tell you where the bleedin’ liberals are. (Calm down I’m saying that in jest, I have a touch of bleedin’ liberal in me too.. not enough for one of those bumper stickets, but I’m just sayin’)

3. Yeah so there is no soap opera in this country crazier than the first 38 chapters of the book of Genesis. And people think that this was all made up? Dude, you can’t make stuff this crazy up. CS Lewis wrote as much in Mere Christianity. Unbelievable!

4. What would you say is more difficult to get done over a span of 18 weeks… training for a marathon, or successfully getting Charter to bury a cable that’s running through your and your (unhappy) neighbor’s yard. I think I already gave up the answer to this one..

5. One thing I know is true…

Hey, love you guys. I appreciate your prayers. I’m never gonna give any of you up! :-)

Today was a very busy way to end the week. It was one of those where I just worked constantly until it was time to go home, and it could have been another hour.. or five. I’m glad for that because I felt really fired up about work and I haven’t always been able to say that recently. So that was good.

My brother found us some Auburn-Tennessee tickets, so we’ll be heading there tomorrow. I’m really excited to head down and see the city and hang with the bro. I hope Auburn wins as well. :-)

5K race tomorrow and then 16 on Sunday Morning. Starting to get into the tougher part of this. I had a cold earlier in the week but feel almost better now. Hoping to feel even a little better tomorrow for the race. I’d like to break 20 minutes but it’s also at Oak Mountain and I don’t know the course, so it could be really bumpy..

I love this Scripture from John

John 10

25 Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father’s name speak for me, 26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.”

I don’t pretend to be able to understand being Jesus in this scenario.. but I feel like the Father does also give men and women to each of us that follow Him. And right now there are eight guys who God has put in my path. I pray that I can be a tiny tiny bit of the shepherd in the Scripture above, and help point them to a closer and closer relationship with the true Shepherd. That’s my number one thought and prayer right now.

It’s past my bedtime and it’s a long day tomorrow. I hope everyone reading is well and as always thanks for keeping up with me!

It was a great speedwork session this morning. It felt easy, was fast, and I left thinking I could have done a lot more.

Big change. Maybe my consistency and persistence is paying off. I haven’t missed a training run yet.

I’m also pairing up my training with another challenge. I want to post about that later in detail, so be looking for it. I hope it to be something that inspires all my runner and non-runner friends.

On my way to lead some training sessions here at work. Will be my first opportunity to see the final version of my acting with the Suzuki Man. :-) I have heard it turned out really well. Most likely because of the Suzuki Man, probably not me.

Have a great day!

I’m sure there is a Wordpress plugin that will tell me how many words are on my blog. I’m not currently using it. :-) But if there was it would be easy for me to tell you how many words I have written on the blog.

It also is easy to notice that my word count isn’t very high lately.

The truth of the matter is that I’m going through a little bit of a dry time in terms of writing. There are moments when good thoughts and ideas are coming out, but in general it’s been a little tough for me to sit down and concentrate and write thoughtful things.

However, I am still here. And here’s a quick recap of my week.

- I purchased a subscription to Rhapsody. And I love it. I can download whatever I want to my MP3 player. I am really happy with it so far.

- I really loved small group Tuesday night, if you guys are reading… we are walking (slowly) through the Old Testament.. if there’s any single guys that need a small group to go to, seriously, I have one for you. God is way better to me than I deserve to give me the guys I have in this group.

- Bowling league is over. I was a little bowled out. I’m excited about having another night with no obligations.. to run, or rest, or see friends.

- No huge plans for the weekend which is a good thing!

- It was a great training week, made all my runs to this point, stayed hydrated well, ate well, lost 2 pounds, have about 6-8 more to lose to get into my marathon shape. Also doing situps and pushups to build my core and upper body a little. Today I did a marathon pace run. It wasn’t quite as fast as it was supposed to be, maybe 6-8 seconds off.. but it was a good run and I think those seconds will come. I felt really good about it.

- House is great, we had a big crew of company over Sunday and had a blast. Hoping to do more of this in the future..

- I’m praying about going back to Honduras in December. I may need financial assistance on this one. The situation with mom (2 houses, insurance) is a little heavy. I’m going to let God lead this thing, and perhaps next summer if not December. But I would appreciate your prayers (and potentially money?) on that.

- War Eagle

So that’s the basics. I hope everyone is continuing to read, and I’m sure it won’t be long before I’m knocking out lots of long blogs for you to read the first few paragraphs of. :-) I also haven’t finished my Honduras journals yet. I do intend to finish them. Especially my blog about Santa Fe, which was the absolute highlight of the week for me.

Thanks for reading everyone!

This one is from September of 2007. Fitting since I am moving and leaving Fultondale and Gardendale behind. Good times. It really is true that this song accompanied me through some really good times!

So one of my favorite bands is the Decemberists. And probably my favorite song is ‘Here I Dreamt I was an Architect’. This song never gets old.

‘Architect’ is driving on I-65 to Gardendale for Saturday morning runs at the Civic Center. It’s early fall and my windows down and singing at the top of my lungs at like 6am. It’s lemondade flavored gatorade and running miles I had never run before. It’s a beautiful song and frames a beautiful time. I love how songs do that.

Well here I am, in my new bedroom. I’m blogging on my laptop via borrowed Wifi, thanks Belkin!

Closing was not uneventful unfortunately, but nothing I will lose sleep over tonight I don’t think.

I hope this to be the first of many posts from this room as a new little chapter of my life begins.

Now to focus on my trip, and then when we get back getting everything moved in and mom over here.

Your prayers are appreciated over the coming days and weeks about my trip, and getting the new living arrangements settled without going broke or stressing out and choking any family members or co-workers. :-)

For work.. leaving today and will return tomorrow.

I’m up really early and it’s so peaceful. Just the sound of my keyboard and my brain churning.

Wish I had my textbooks already, could get a lot of reading done in the air.

I hope everyone has an awesome weekend.

My friend Paul is on the way to South Africa for 3 weeks. My friend Jeremy will be heading to Africa soon as well. And my friend Sarah is a little over 2 weeks from heading to the Ukraine. And I’m approaching a month until my trip. Please pray for all of us, that God will work through us and in us to do something we couldn’t think about on our own.

Had a good run tonight, which made me feel a lot better after my really bad run Saturday. Hoping to go for a nice ride in the morning and maybe a short run in the evening. I joined the YMCA today, so now I have access to many pools, and thus no excuse not to get swimming. :-) Lessons start next week.

I’m really tired and I feel like sleeping. Just thought I would pop in and write a little. Hope everyone is well. Good night!
